Guam Cancer Care provides FREE professional support services to any Guam resident adversely affected by cancer. Our programs include patient navigation and advocacy, screening, some funding for treatment, counseling, support groups, education, and transportation coordination.
Guam Cancer Care can help newly diagnosed cancer patients determine necessary procedures that fall under their current medical insurance coverage and the type of public assistance they may receive. We will then use these resources to coordinate with insurance carriers and specialists to schedule the patients for their cancer treatment. We will be there with every patient throughout the entire process.
Guam Cancer Care can assist our patients financially by mitigating barriers to cancer care as a result of socio-economic disadvantage by identifying necessary funding resources. By identifying available government programs or non-profit organizations, we can assist in finding all available resources to help cover the cost of medical treatment.
In addition to assisting patients identify financial resources, Guam Cancer Care has implemented the Financial Assistance Program (FAP), which will provide funding “as a last resort” to cover cancer treatment and other direct cancer care services not covered by financial resources identified through our navigation efforts. FAP will be available for individuals who meet our eligibility criteria and funding guidelines and assist in paying for co-payments for direct treatment, medication, prescriptions, etc. This program is for those who truly need financial assistance.
Guam Cancer Care can also assist with facilitating transportation locally. In addition to coordinating cancer appointments for patients at risk of receiving inadequate medical treatment, our staff can also provide transportation to and from their medical appointments. Subsequently, Guam Cancer Care will be able to facilitate off-island transportation to qualified cancer patients or their caregivers. Each case will be reviewed to match transportation needs by our cancer patients and match them to available resources.
